passes to Tyrell Williams — and the veteran quarterback threw a block — and Melvin Gordon had three TD runs as the Los Angeles Chargers banged around Cleveland rookie Baker Mayfield and the Browns Greedy Williams Jersey , 38-14 on Sunday. The 36-year-old Rivers continued one of the best starts of his 15-year career, leading the Chargers (4-2) to their third straight win. Rivers finished 11 of 20 for 207 yards and had only one mistake, an interception midway through the fourth quarter.San Diego did most of its damage on the ground with Gordon running for 132 yards and scoring on runs of 4, 10 and 11 yards.Rivers and Williams connected on scoring plays of 45 and 29 yards in the first half, and Gordon’s 11-yard run put the Chargers up 35-6.Mayfield’s third start as a pro was a rough one. The No. 1 overall pick was sacked five times, tweaked his ankle when he slid on a sideline marker and threw two interceptions. The Browns (2-3-1) were blown out after playing five tight games — three going to overtime — and showed there’s still a long road ahead. While young QBs like Mayfield, Carson Wentz and Patrick Mahomes may be the NFL’s next wave, Rivers is showing that the old guys can still get the job done. He has thrown 15 TD passes with just three interceptions, and he did all he could to block Browns linebacker Jamie Collins despite the Chargers leading 28-6.Los Angeles caught a break on Rivers’ second TD pass to Williams.Left tackle Russell Okung clearly dropped back before the ball was snapped. Browns defensive end Myles Garrett stopped, assuming the play would be whistled https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Howard-Wilson-Jersey , and several other players paused while Rivers lofted his scoring pass to Williams.Williams’ first TD catch was more spectacular. Leaping with three Browns defenders around him, he wrestled the ball way from Browns safety Damarious Randall to give the Chargers a 14-3 lead.Mayfield was under duress from the start, and he didn’t get much help from his wide receivers. Rookies Antonio Callaway and Damion Ratley both missed potential TD catches in the first half. While running out of bounds on a scramble in the first quarter, Mayfield skidded on the plastic marker on L.A.s’ sideline and he favored his leg throughout the rest of the game.JUST FOR KICKSThe Chargers’ kicking woes did not come into play.Rookie Michael Badgley replaced injured starter Caleb Sturgis and made one field goal and all five extra-points in his pro debut. He was signed on Thursday.Sturgis, who has been dealing with a quadriceps injury, missed a field goal and PAT last week. He also missed two extra points in L.A.’s previous game.THOMAS TRIBUTEThe Browns honored future Hall of Fame tackle Joe Thomas by adding 10,363 — the number of consecutive snaps he played over 11 seasons — to the club’s ring of honor. Thomas retired following last season, which came to a premature end for him when he tore his triceps. He grudgingly retired in March.“There is no reason for me to retire — I love the game, I love being in the locker room and the paychecks were really good — but my body just couldn’t do it anymore,” said Thomas https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Bernie-Kosar-Jersey , who wore an orange Mayfield jersey. “If it weren’t for that, I would be out there today.”INJURIESChargers: DE Christopher Landrum was shaken up in the fourth quarter.Browns: LB Joe Schobert (hamstring) left in the third quarter, and LB James Burgess (hamstring) went out in the fourth. … WR Rod Streater suffered a neck “stinger” while covering a punt in the first quarter and did not return. Streater’s injury complicated Cleveland’s issues at wide receiver as Rashard Higgins and Derrick Willies were also out with injuries. He found out Darnold has mono on Wednesday night, which bumped him back into a starting role and his referenced his previous experience during a press conference on Thursday afternoon.“I’ve been there and done it a little bit,” Siemian said. “It’s been a while . . . I’m champing at the bit to compete and be out there with the guys. I’ll just say I feel comfortable.”Siemian was 25-of-32 for 158 yards and a touchdown in the preseason.Siemian said he wasn’t worried about Darnold’s absence being too big of a hurdle for the team to overcome because they’re “mentally tough” and “built to handle this.” Monday will show whether Siemian’s correct or if the Jets will be staring at 0-2 with the Patriots looming in Week Three.

Dean Lowry Jersey , cornerback Kevin King’s season will end on injured reserve. According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Green Bay Packers have placed King along with running back Tre Carson on injured reserve.King, the Packers’ top draft pick in 2017, entered the NFL with shoulder issues that eventually required surgery. That injury cost King nearly half of his rookie season and landed him on injured reserve last December. This year, a hamstring problem limited King to just six games and will now end his sophomore campaign. While one injury has nothing to do with the other, the propensity for King to miss time with injuries has become a troubling development in his young career. To fill the roster spots vacated by King and Carson, the Packers have claimed defensive lineman Fadol Brown and defensive back Natrell Jamerson off waivers. Brown appeared in eight games this season for the Raiders before the team cut him earlier this week. As for Jamerson, the Houston Texans waived him to make room for recently activated running back D’Onta Foreman. When all the moves become official, the Packers’ roster will stand at 53 players. For years Kentrell Brice Color Rush Jersey , Green Bay Packers fans had watched Clay Matthews and Jordy Nelson take the field wearing 52 and 87 in green and gold. In 2019, however, things will look very different, as both of those numbers will belong to members of the team’s 2019 draft class.Rashan Gary and Jace Sternberger will have plenty of recent success to live up to when they put on those jerseys this year. Interestingly, several members of the Packers’ draft class wore single-digit numbers in college — Gary among them. They of course had to get new numbers to meet the NFL’s uniform regulations. Here’s a look at the new numbers for each of these new Packers and the history that comes with each one.Rashan Gary, OLB (1.12): #52It’s going to be weird seeing Clay Matthews’ old number on a different face this season, but at least it’s staying at the same position rather than going over to the offensive line. Hopefully Gary can be as productive early in his career as Matthews was — the former USC Trojan had 23.5 sacks in his first two years. Of course, Matthews had high marks to live up to as well, as it belonged to longtime center Frank Winters before him.Matthews just found out about the number assignment, though, and he had some fun with it:Darnell Savage, S (1.21): #26Cornerback Bashaud Breeland wore number 26 most recently https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Geronimo-Allison-Jersey , donning that last season. However, the best Packer to wear 26 is not in question — that would be Herb Adderley, who now has a minor connection to both of the Packers’ first-round picks. He wore 26 from 1961 to 1969 after being the 12th overall pick (like Gary) in ‘61.Elgton Jenkins, G (2.44): #74The Packers’ second-round pick gets a number that has belonged to a pair of excellent defensive linemen in the past, though he’ll be on the other side of the trenches. Recently, Aaron Kampman wore 74 on his way to 54 sacks as a Packer; back in the Lombardi days it was Henry Jordan’s number for five All-Pro seasons and five NFL titles en route to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jace Sternberger, TE (3.75): #87Do we need to explain the recent history of number 87? Sternberger will have a lot to live up to in wearing the number most recently donned by Jordy Nelson. However, that number also belonged to a legendary Lombardi-era Packer: defensive lineman Willie Davis, also a Hall of Famer and also a five-time All-Pro.Kingsley Keke, DL (5.150): #96This number assignment likely means that Muhammad Wilkerson’s time in Green Bay is done, as that was his number last season. It also belonged to Mike Neal in the early part of this decade, Sean Jones probably had the most success in these digits Oren Burks Jersey , however, recording 24.5 sacks in three years with the Packers.Ka’Dar Hollman, CB (6.185): #2929 became available earlier this offseason when Kentrell Brice left as a free agent. Before him, Casey Hayward wore it, and the Packers should be thrilled if they get any similar sort of production from Hollman in his career. It also belonged to a trio of starting defensive backs in the team’s lean years: Al Matthews, Mike McCoy, and Ken Stills.Dexter Williams, RB (6.194): #22The Packers likely have some explaining to do with this number. Kapri Bibbs is also listed as wearing 22 on the team website, so presumably he will be giving up these digits. There are other available numbers in the 20s, 30s, and 40s: 35, 39 Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey , 41, 47, and 48 are all currently unclaimed. This number has been handed off to a variety of running backs and defensive backs over the years, but the most notable players to wear it were running back Elijah Pitts in the Lombardi years and starting cornerback Mark Lee in the 1980s.Ty Summers, ILB (7.226): #44For the second straight year, a linebacker will wear number 44 in Green Bay. Last year it was Antonio Morrison’s number after arriving from Indianapolis via trade. Before that, however, it was primarily a running back’s number, with James Starks, Najeh Davenport, and Donny Anderson all sporting it in their Packers careers.

Here we are again Indianapolis Colts T-Shirts , the Colts’ playoff hopes seem to hang on a late-season matchup against the Houston Texans. (AP) — Holdout safety Earl Thomas reiterated Thursday he wants to be traded if the Seattle Seahawks aren’t willing to offer him a contract extension.Thomas explained the reasoning behind his ongoing holdout in a long post on The Players’ Tribune . Thomas has skipped Seattle’s entire offseason program and missed the first week of training camp.Thomas said his holdout is entirely based around securing his long-term future with his current contract set to expire at the conclusion of the 2018 season.“One of the reasons I’ve always played so hard is because I want my actions on the field to be able to speak for me,” Thomas wrote. “But I can’t do that right now — and I’m in a situation where I feel like I really have to say something. Not just on behalf of myself, but also for the other players around the league who are currently in the same position as me, or who will be in the future.”Thomas is a three-time first-team All-Pro and was the anchor for the Seattle defense that appeared in consecutive Super Bowls, winning the first. Aside from a broken leg suffered late in the 2016 season, Thomas has been a durable starter from the time he arrived in the league. Thomas has missed just seven regular-season games in his career.Thomas said he was shaken by the injuries suffered by Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor — two other members of Seattle’s “Legion of Boom” secondary — in a Thursday night game last season. Sherman ruptured his Achilles tendon, ending his season Shaun Alexander Color Rush Jersey , and Chancellor suffered a neck injury. Sherman was released by Seattle in the offseason and signed with San Francisco. Chancellor — while not officially retired — is not expected to play again because of the neck injury.“That Thursday night game really cemented in my mind the truth — which is that your entire life can change on one play. And when it does, no matter what you’ve accomplished in the past . you can still get cut without even so much as a negotiation,” Thomas wrote.Thomas said he’s become frustrated with the insinuation that his holdout means he doesn’t want to play in Seattle anymore.“That’s just not true, man. I love Seattle. But I’d hoped I wouldn’t even have to say that. last offseason. This offseason Cody Ford Jersey Boys , they made the bold move to get Josh Allen some help, even if Plan A didn’t work out.The early hours of free agency brought a flurry of offensive players to Buffalo, as they added running back Frank Gore, wide receivers Cole Beasley and John Brown, tight end Tyler Kroft, and offensive linemen Mitch Morse, Jon Feliciano and Ty Nsekhe.“I think it’s obvious that we’ve been trying to build our offense,” Bills coach Sean McDermott told Jay Skurski of the . “Look Infant Cody Ford Jersey , we have good pieces in our locker room. It doesn’t mean we pull the trigger,” McDermott said. “Somewhere in the process of looking, whether it’s early or late in the process, when you come across things that tell you it’s not going to work out for one reason or another, then you go on to the next one. He’s back in four. But will he really be back? The Giants have removed running back Saquon Barkley from the final Week Seven injury report. However, Shurmur wouldn’t say whether Engram will play.“I’m not playing games,” Shurmur said.So what’s he doing, then? Both players are listed as starter’s on the team’s online depth chart George Asafo-Adjei Jersey Boys , and both are off the injury report. The clear implication is that they’ll play.Is he hoping to create a false drama that will drive traffic to the team’s official website and/or Twitter account? Is he simply trying to be difficult because he can? Or is he just reacting to the pressure he’s feeling as the Giants face a must-win game against the Cardinals? And he’s surely feeling the pressure. Through 22 regular-season games as the coach of the Giants, Shurmur has managed to keep his head low and mouth shut while others like Eli Manning, Dave Gettleman, and John Mara attracted scrutiny and criticism. With the Giants only one game out of first place in the NFC East, a blown opportunity to pull into a tie with the loser of the Eagles-Cowboys game could result in more people asking whether what would become a 7-16 record is better or worse than Ben McAdoo’s 13-16 performance in fewer than two years on the job.Last Thursday night, Shurmur opted to punt on fourth and 2 from his own 33 while trailing by 14 with 7:08 to go, an obvious effort to impress drive-by fans who make judgments based not on a quick glance at the final score. He rightfully was criticized for conceding possession in the hopes of losing by only 14 points. (It didn’t work.)More criticism could be coming his way if the team Infant George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , which has played well in games it was supposed to lose, can’t prevail in games it is supposed to win. The challenge begins with the Cardinals on Sunday, and it continues with a game at Detroit, a home game against Dallas, and then a pre-bye cross-stadium showdown with the Jets. The Lions’ decision to trade safety Quandre Diggs to the Seahawks this week was not met with much happiness from the players remaining on the team.Cornerback Darius Slay had one of the more outspoken reactions and it included Slay saying he “wouldn’t care” if the Lions trade him despite expressing a desire to sign a new deal with the team in the past.On Friday, Lions head coach Matt Patricia was asked about the response and called Slay “passionate” while acknowledging “the decision will impact everybody” in the organization. Patricia also said that he believes the team has shifted its focus to Sunday’s game against the Giants.“We addressed everything as a team on Wednesday, really thought the guys have done a good job of turning the page George Asafo-Adjei Jersey Draft ,” Patricia said, via MLive.com. “I think for us, the bottom line is we haven’t played well enough to win the last several games. I mean, all’s we want to do right now is just go win — we want to try to go win — and we know that’s going to be all about preparation in practice and getting better through the course of the week and being able to go play well against the Giants. So that’s our focus, and hope we have a good day at that today and go do the same thing.”The Lions have lost three straight games and extending that to four games this weekend won’t do much to support Patricia’s assertion that the team’s focus is on the right things.

half of the season opening most every week with a reminder about how much room there is for his team to improve White Tom Brady Jerseys , no matter if it's after a win or a loss.Despite a 6-2 record, the Bills have closed each week proving McDermott to be correct. One week, concerns are raised over quarterback Josh Allen's turnover troubles. The next, Buffalo's run defense is springing leaks. And of course, there are questions of whether the Bills' best start to a season in 26 years is more a reflection of the team or a soft schedule. The six wins have come against teams with a combined 9-43 record entering Monday. No one at Bills headquarters is apologizing for sitting tied with Baltimore with the AFC's second-best record, and a win behind New England."We don't make the schedule. We didn't make the schedule last year. Probably good odds we won't make it next year either," McDermott said Monday Tom Brady Jerseys 2019 , a day after a 24-9 win over Washington (1-. "We're focused on who we play this week."Yet McDermott and GM Brandon Beane appear aware of the team's strengths and deficiencies. Neither is ready to suggest the Bills — with nine newcomers on offense and getting regular contributions from seven players with fewer than two full seasons of experience — have arrived as some sort of AFC power."Yeah, we're a work in progress," McDermott said. The two continue to take a patient and methodical approach to rebuilding what had been a dysfunctional and miscast team they inherited upon their arrival in 2017.Their unwillingness to take shortcuts was evident last week when they stood pat at the trade deadline, deeming the asking prices too high. In March, Beane took a similar stand when he cut short initial trade discussions with Pittsburgh over acquiring now out-of-work receiver Antonio Brown.McDermott has on several occasions referenced the balance that must be struck in making decisions based on both short- and long-term needs.Though Buffalo is projected to have $24 million in salary cap space still available this season, some of that money must be kept in reserve to re-sign players, such as star cornerback Tre'Davious White. And it's a much better position than the Bills were in when their payroll was skewed by high-priced contracts handed out to underachieving players under previous regimes.Barring a second-half meltdown Rob Gronkowski Jersey , the Bills are poised to make the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. That would mark a triumphant turnaround for a franchise that opened the 2000s with a 17-year playoff drought, which stood as the longest active streak in North America's four major professional sports. What's also true is the Bills appear miles ahead of two of their division rivals, the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins, who are 1-7 despite sharing mostly the same schedule. And the Bills certainly don't resemble their next opponent, the talent-laden but chaotic Cleveland Browns (2-6), who appear to be crumbling under the weight of high preseason expectations."Very grateful to be here, No. 1 Womens Elandon Roberts Jersey , to be a part of this team," McDermott said, when asked to assess Buffalo's start. "It's a result of everyone's hard work."WHAT'S WORKINGBuffalo's defense has gone 12 straight games without allowing more than one touchdown passing to match the franchise's longest streak set in 1971-72 and 2009.WHAT NEEDS HELPThe run defense has allowed 556 yards and six touchdowns rushing over its past four games after giving up 338 yards and three TDs in its first four.STOCK UPRookie running back Devin Singletary set career-bests with 95 yards rushing and 45 yards receiving on 41 snaps — 20 more than veteran Frank Gore.STOCK DOWNGore finished with 15 yards on 11 carries for a 1.36 yards-per-attempt average that matched the seventh lowest of his 15-year career. Gore was stopped for no gain on three consecutive carries from Washington's 1 in the first half. He was held to no gain on fourth-and-1 in the third quarter, and tackled for a 3-yard loss on third-and-1 in the fourth quarter.KEY NUMBER66: Length in yards of Andre Roberts' kickoff return, which set up Allen's 1-yard touchdown plunge. It was Buffalo's longest since C.J. Spiller's 102-yard return for a touchdown in 2014.NEXT STEPSThe schedule remains soft with games at Cleveland (2-6) and Miami (1-7), and home against Denver (3-6). Where would the 2015 Second Team All Pro fit in with the Patriots?"[UPDATE] The New England Patriots have re-signed Jamie Collins, according to a report by the Boston Globe’s Jim McBride. He is expected to be present for team workouts on Thursday.[ORIGINAL STORY] The New England Patriots are “in talks” to bring back former linebacker Jamie Collins http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authen...evin-mccourty-jersey , per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. The Patriots traded Collins to the Cleveland Browns in the middle of the 2016 regular season as Collins was slated to enter free agency after the end of the season.Collins was a Second-Team All Pro with the Patriots in 2015 and had a strong 2016 season despite changing teams. The Browns hired Gregg Williams to serve as defensive coordinator in 2017 and 2018 and Collins suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2017, leading to two of Collins’ worst seasons in the NFL.Cleveland used Collins as a 4-3 strongside linebacker where was asked to penetrate up the field. The Patriots preferred to play Collins as a weakside linebacker or middle linebacker where he managed two gaps or had coverage responsibility. In the Patriots’ current defense, he could line up at his old weakside spot with Dont’a Hightower in the middle and Kyle Van Noy on the strong side.Add in Elandon Roberts, who had a great 2018 season, and promising sophomore Ja’Whaun Bentley and the Patriots linebacker depth chart would be solid. At his best, Collins’ is an athletic phenom that can cover tight ends and running backs with ease and can also provide pass-rushing pressure up the middle. Collins’ started all 16 games for the Browns last season and led the team in tackles, so he’s not without ability. If the Patriots can get Collins back into a spot where he thrived in 2014 and 2015 Kevin Faulk Jersey , then the Patriots could have another steal on their hands.

White Avery Williamson Jerseys , coach Adam Gase said “you can’t be embarassed by this s—.”It’s a good thing. The Jets are 2-16 in their past 18 games, and Gase is 1-10 in his past 11 games, dating to his final days in Miami last season.Arizona fired Steve Wilks after one season, and Gase could be headed toward the same fate in New York.Gase, who is 24-32 in four seasons as a head coach, said Monday he is unconcerned about his future.“It’s something that I don’t really focus on,” Gase said, via Manish Mehta of the . “One and seven is not fun to go through.”Gase said he feels bad for Jets CEO Christopher Johnson.“When we lose a game, I feel like I let him down,” Gase said. “He understands he’s going to get everything I have . . . to keep fighting to try to win games.”The question is: How patient is Johnson? Surely Lamar Jackson has put that ugly stereotype to rest, once and for all.Let's hope we never hear again how some dynamic young African-American quarterback would be better off at another position because — wink, wink — he's just not cut out to read defenses or up to the mental challenge. That narrative has largely changed in the NFL — though, obviously, not completely. So let's make sure the acceptance mindset seeps down through the ranks Avery Williamson Jerseys 2019 , to those just starting to play the game, so that no kid ever gets an inkling he shouldn't be playing quarterback because of the color of his skin. With his 23rd birthday still a few weeks away, Jackson had already answered all the doubters but put an exclamation point on a season for the ages with another dynamic performance Thursday night, leading the Baltimore Ravens to a 42-21 victory over the New York Jets. For the third time this season, Jackson threw five touchdown passes in a game, giving him team-record tying 33 on the season with just six interceptions. His snarky assessment after that first five-TD game still applies today: “Not bad for a running back.”That, of course, was a not-so-subtle jab at those who believed Jackson would never pan out as an NFL quarterback, most famously voiced by former NFL executive Bill Polian, who said leading up to the 2018 draft that Jackson was better suited to play receiver. Others tabbed him as a future running back.“Exceptional athlete, exceptional ability to make you miss, exceptional acceleration, exceptional instinct with the ball in his hand and that’s rare for wide receivers,” Polian said. "Clearly White Rashard Robinson Jerseys , clearly not the thrower that the other (top quarterback prospects) are. The accuracy isn’t there.”Never mind that Jackson threw for more than 9,000 yards during his three years at Louisville, with 69 touchdowns and only 27 interceptions. Never mind that he ran for more than 4,000 yards and 50 TDs with the Cardinals. Never mind that he won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore. Now, that's not to imply Polian and others were blinded by racism in their assessment of Jackson. Certainly, scouts and general managers have badly misjudged quarterbacks — white and black— over the years.Joe Montana was a third-round pick who went on to capture four Super Bowl titles. Tom Brady lasted until the sixth round of the draft, and all he's done is win a record six rings. But there is one big difference between Jackson and those underrated quarterbacks who came before him.No one was calling on Montana or Brady to switch positions. They weren't subjected to that most reliable of racist tropes: the black quarterback who is only successful because of his superior athletic skills, while white quarterbacks are lauded for their mental ability and work ethic.Jackson undoubtedly faced that perception when he entered the draft after his junior season at Louisville.Four quarterbacks — all of them white — went in the first 10 picks. Jackson lasted until the very last pick of the first round, No. 32 overall. While the Ravens certainly deserve credit for trading up to get him, let's not forget they already had made another pick in the opening round, selecting tight end Hayden Hurst at No. 25.Hurst has made just four starts his first two years in the league.Jackson is already the face of the franchise — and, one could argue, the entire league. After blowing through the Jets, he hung around afterward to sign jerseys for three of their players Rashard Robinson Jerseys 2019 , the ultimate sign of respect from an opponent.“I'm enjoying it," Jackson said. “I love the game. I've got a great group of guys and coaching staff with me. I couldn't wish to be anywhere else.”Let's be clear: Times have certainly changed since NFL teams essentially refused to let a black man hold down the most prominent spot on the field. In all likelihood, Jackson will become the third African-American quarterback to win the MVP award in the past five years, following Cam Newton and Patrick Mahomes. Last season, there were a record five black quarterbacks starting in the playoffs. This year, Kyler Murray was the No. 1 overall pick and became one of 10 African-Americans to start regularly for their teams. For sure, the racial stereotype is on life support. It's past time to finish it off.Jackson is certainly doing his part. In addition to his stellar passing night against the Jets, he broke Michael Vick's record for rushing yards in a season by a quarterback with 1,103.That led to a marvelous on-field interview with Fox after the game, as Jackson stood alongside teammate Mark Ingram.Asked for his reaction to eclipsing Vick's record, Jackson replied, “It's pretty cool. I don't know when I broke it.”Ingram interrupted, “When I told you congratulations.”“OK, OK White Kelvin Beachum Jerseys ,” Jackson said with a smile. “I was trying to be locked in the whole entire game. The goal is to win, not to break a record.”Jackson's humble, playful demeanor was a reminder of another signature moment this season: His sideline exchange with coach John Harbaugh near the end of a blowout win over Cincinnati, highlighted by a ridiculous 47-yard touchdown run.Harbaugh: "You know, most quarterbacks worry about stats."Jackson: "I'm worried about my team, coach."Harbaugh: "Well, you're a leader. That's why they love you."More Harbaugh: "I love the way you play, too."Jackson: "Appreciate you."Harbaugh: "You just don't flinch. You just attack. All you do is attack."Jackson: "It's all I know."Harbaugh: "You changed the game, man. You know how many little kids in this country are gonna be wearing No. 8 and playing quarterback for the next 20 years?"Jackson: "I can't wait to see it."We can't, either.Paul Newberry is a sports columnist for The Associated Press. Ask him a question about his beloved team Dru Samia Jersey nfl draft , and the first words from his mouth are “WhoDat? Who Dat?”Still, Temple, a noted chef who has cooked for several NFL players, including Malcolm Jenkins, Brandin Cooks and All-Pro receiver Michael Thomas, recognizes there are three other teams remaining in the playoffs. So when Hormel Chili asked him to create dips for the Super Bowl, he dived right in with versions that reflect not only New Orleans, but New England, Los Angeles and Kansas City .“The beautiful thing about it is chili and football go hand in hand,” Temple says, noting Hormel was a partner with the NFL as far back as the 1950s. “At tailgates or with friends at a viewing party or wherever, it is easy to accommodate a larger crowd.”But his chore for now is to accommodate four distinctly different tastes as part of a contest in which fans will include touchdown dances; a winner and a guest will get tickets to the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. We won’t give away too many ingredients, but suffice to say Temple catered nicely to each region.“Chili is versatile, but you can’t throw everything in it,” he says. “Don’t want it to be intimidating.”First, the Big Easy.“I had to make sure I represent the culture right, being from New Orleans,” he says. “Nobody wants to eat shrimp with their chili, they don’t go together. So what to do?”Temple quickly came up with an answer: red beans. Add in some onions, celery and bell peppers, sausage, creole seasoning, a few other items and, voila.“I was thoroughly impressed with it,” Temple says. “Friends said that is rolling.”So he rolled on to LA.“The fun thing about Los Angeles is it’s such a large melting pot, so you don’t know which culture to pull from to represent the area,” he explains. “I came across a Felipe’s restaurant known for their chili, they do annual giveaways. So we paid homage to the Latin culture.”Which meant a touch of cilantro and some jalapenos.Next stop Ben Gedeon Jersey , Kansas City, renowned for its barbecue. As in his LA chili, no beans for this creation.“My wife is from Kansas City and we went on a barbecue tour of about eight spots recently, so I knew I wanted to play with the burnt ends,” Temple says. “That is what they do well and people wait on line for.”This recipe included the flavor of a Kansas City barbecue sauce, which Temple says is “spicier and bolder than I expected. I am used to more of the sweeter side of barbecue. I was impressed with the tang.”He wanted the smokiness of the burnt ends to blend in, but urges folks to mix the meat into this dish, not to simply put the burnt ends on top and chow down. Finally, he tackled New England, knowing that, like in New Orleans, clams or lobster wouldn’t quite work.“Boston baked beans,” he exclaims. “That’s a savory sweet payoff, and because you can use a variety of baked beans, I can imagine you will get a lot of different flavors with it.”Temple recently gave cooking lessons to Vikings star receiver Adam Thielen. Indeed, the dance contest emanates from some of Thielen and his teammates’ touchdown celebrations. From now through Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 3, 2019, fans can submit their best touchdown dance via social media by tagging @HormelChili on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.Temple and Thielen created a Minnesota chili.“I told Adam that I am the chef, so this is my side of the field,” Temple says with a hearty laugh. “But when I have an engagement with whomever I am cooking with, I want him to throw out some ideas and we bounce them back and forth — especially with people who do not get a chance to cook too many times.”That would be Thielen, who had 113 receptions for 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Thielen attended the game last year in Minneapolis, but this time will be at home with his wife and two children. On the menu? Well, chili, of course.“Since I’m from Minnesota Cameron Smith Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , I thought chili and tots would be perfect together,” he says, “and Chef Kenneth said, ‘We can add some creole seasoning on the tots and you pour the chili dip on top.’ The combo came out perfect!” Every week, the Green Bay Packers are like any other NFL team, sending video of officials' calls they didn't agree with to the league office for review. This week's will have one that undoubtedly the league already knows the team is unhappy with: Linebacker Clay Matthews' controversial roughing-the-passer penalty late in the fourth quarter, a call that wiped out a Packers interception and allowed the Minnesota Vikings to escape Lambeau Field with a 29-29 tie on Sunday.McCarthy said he and his coaching staff reviewed the tape of the game early Monday morning, and that they'll compile those plays they took issue with and send them on Monday night or Tuesday morning.Matthews was flagged for a 15-yard personal foul for roughing Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins with 1 minute, 37 seconds left and the Packers leading, 29-21.Instead of Jaire Alexander's interception that would have sealed a win for the Packers, they watched as Cousins threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Adam Thielen and completed a 2-point conversion to Stefon Diggs to force overtime.Neither team scored in OT, with Vikings kicker Daniel Carlson missing a pair of field-goal attempts, including one as overtime expired. The Vikings cut Carlson Monday."I addressed it with the team. We don't focus on the uncontrollables. I don't focus on officiating," McCarthy said Monday. "We focus on the fundamentals (of tackling), doing things right 鈥?footwork, approach, strike and finish of any tackle."And I felt Clay did what he was asked to do. Obviously, they saw it differently. For me to sit here and dispute it is really a waste of everybody's time."Asked if he felt calls such as the one referee Tony Corrente made on Matthews should be subject to instant replay review, McCarthy said, "Well, I think anytime a play can change the game. ... We're not going to sit there and gripe and moan and count on them to get a call to win the game."But also, when you have a chance to reflect and evaluate, everybody's about trying to improve. We're no different. We give the feedback that's part of the process for the officiating department."Speaking to a pool reporter after the game, Corrente said Matthews was flagged because he took Cousins and "lifted him and drove him into the ground. ... It has nothing to do with the rule of full body weight. It has nothing to do with helmet to helmet. He picked the quarterback up and drove him into the ground."While McCarthy said it was incumbent on the Packers defense to respond to the call by still holding the Vikings, Matthews was clearly upset that the call went against him."If you aren't being biased, I think it was a legal hit. You can't help but think if you didn't have that call, how does this game go?," Matthews said. "At the same time Minnesota Vikings Jerseys 2019 , you're bewildered as far as what to think, what to do, how to feel. That's frustrating, no doubt about it."I know there's an emphasis on protecting quarterbacks, but it's gotten out of control. I don't know what else to do. It's frustrating because Jaire's interception, that's game, right?"Instead, they go down and score 鈥?overtime. We had opportunities to win the game, no doubt about it, but (it's) frustrating to allow a call which I feel like I did the right thing to influence the game."McCarthy said the Packers, who were flagged for only one roughing-the-passer penalty all of last season, have talked about how the plays are being officiated and are trying to adjust accordingly.McCarthy also acknowledged that a roughing-the-passer call on Minnesota's Eric Kendricks for hitting Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers appeared incorrect."It's definitely a topic. I mean, we've had four (penalties) in two weeks. Anytime patterns become abnormal, I mean, there's a reason behind it," McCarthy said. "The way that particular play is being officiated is different. But in Clay's particular case, I felt that he did what he was coached to do."You've got to make sure you're looking at all the variables. I'm not sure that all the variables are clear right now. You look at both of the penalties that were called in the game, the quarterbacks, they're trying to throw the ball."I think that's where a little bit of the gray area is in the judgment of the defender hitting the quarterback. Because I get what the goal is, and we're all for the goal being achieved. But in the same breath we've got to make sure it's not a competitive disadvantage to the pass rusher trying to hit the quarterback."NOTES: McCarthy said a holding penalty on guard Lane Taylor, which wiped out Jimmy Graham's touchdown catch also bothered him. "Frankly, I was more upset about that call than Clay's," McCarthy said. ... McCarthy didn't think Rodgers was any worse for wear after playing with a large brace to protect his injured left knee. "I mean he's obviously sore. That's to be expected," McCarthy said. "He's a warrior, just for what he gave us yesterday. (It) was outstanding. But I don't have a read on whether he's better this week than last week." ... McCarthy said he wouldn't know until Wednesday whether second-year cornerback Kevin King's groin injury is significant enough to keep him out of Sunday's game at Washington. King was out of the game when Cousins threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to get the Vikings going during the second half. "We're different when he's in there," McCarthy said of King.

painfully short by injury after being selected in the top four rounds of the NFL Draft."The last vision of Jermichael Finley in a Green Bay Packers uniform was the former Texas Longhorn lying on the ground in the fourth quarter of an October 2013 game against Cleveland. Carted off the field with a spinal cord injury Youth Rashan Gary Jersey , the Packers faithful never again saw the blossoming playmaker catch passes from Aaron Rodgers.Unlike some other notable draft picks in the Ted Thompson era, Green Bay was able to get six seasons from Finley before losing him to a career-ending injury. For the Packers, it was especially unfortunate as they had endured a handful of adventurous seasons with Finley before earning a consistent level of production. Battles with drops and the press defined Finley’s first few seasons in Green Bay before settling into a dangerous receiving rotation with Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and Donald Driver. With the exception of a few glimpses of vertical potential from Jared Cook in 2016, Green Bay has had difficulty replacing Finley’s presence in the offense as both a receiver and decoy. But Finley was not the only game-changing talent lost to severe injury. During a stretch in which the Packers were only a few weapons away from extra Super Bowl appearances, one cannot help but think about some of the lost pieces.Nick CollinsWhile Green Bay was able to get seven years from their three-time Pro Bowl safety Darnell Savage Green Bay Packers Jersey , Collins was taken from them far too prematurely. Prior to suffering a neck injury against Carolina in 2011, Collins had started all 16 games in the previous three seasons and had truly become a dynamic player. Intercepting 17 interceptions over those three campaigns, Collins’ production has been unmatched by any Packer since. Even his replacement Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who put together a Pro Bowl campaign in 2016 with five interceptions and had 14 picks over his five seasons with the team, was not the same steady player. Like Finley, Green Bay is still in search mode to find an equal substitute for Collins’ talent level and fit. Truly trending toward becoming one of the top-five defensive backs in the game at the time of his injury, Collins’ physical presence alone has been missed for the past seven seasons, not to mention his turnover-creating prowess.Terrence MurphyIf the Texas A&M standout had been able to run out of the Lambeau Field tunnel for more than two regular season games in his pro career Kevin King Jersey , the 2005 Packer draft could have been one of the all-time greats. But Murphy, picked after Rodgers and Collins in the second round of that year’s draft, was only able to suit up for three games before losing his career to a bruised spinal cord - the same injury as Finley. Things could have turned out much differently for Green Bay had Murphy remained on the field. Thompson was especially proficient at finding second-round receiving gems during his Packers tenure and Murphy was the first selection of that bunch. The loss of depth due to Murphy’s injury helped push Green Bay toward drafting Jennings the following year, James Jones (third round) the next season, and Jordy Nelson a year later. More than that, the Packers might have lost a difference-maker. Murphy was able to win vertically, over the middle, and on screens in college while also returning kicks. He brought a level of internal confidence to the game that would have been a great fit for the final years of Brett Favre in Green Bay.While the Packers have not been short on quality receivers in the past decade and a half Darnell Savage Jersey 2019 , Murphy is the ultimate what-could-have-been offensive piece during that era.Johnathan FranklinSeeking reinforcements at running back in 2013, the Packers drafted Eddie Lacy in the second round and Franklin in the fourth. Lacy’s decline began somewhere in the middle of year three, which would have provided ample opportunity for Franklin to step into the lineup as more than a third-down fixture. Instead, Franklin’s career was finished after 11 games of his rookie season.Franklin, looked kindly upon by Mike McCarthy as a “classy” and “positive” person, suffered a neck injury that closed the running back’s career before it even started. The UCLA product had one memorable game as a Packer, rushing for 103 yards against Cincinnati when injuries to other running backs called him into action. A player who had skills as a rusher as well as a receiver out of the backfield, Franklin could have been the kind of running back to emerge from the group of Lacy Color Rush Darnell Savage Jersey , Ty Montgomery, and James Starks over the past five years. Unfortunately, the Packers were never able to truly utilize Franklin in their offense. After a year without a team to punt for, former Seattle Seahawks punter Jon Ryan is returning to his hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan to punt for the Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.Ryan announced the move on his Twitter account with a link to Diddy’s song “I’m Coming Home.” The tweet included the Canadian flag and green heart and white circle symbols, which are the colors of the Roughriders.“I feel like I can still play,” Ryan said last month while trying out for CFL teams. “If it was up to me, I’d play until I was 50. I think I’m far from done Cheap Darnell Savage Jersey , so I wanted to pursue these CFL opportunities. As it turns out, there’s three, four, possibly five different opportunities out there.”Ryan, 37, was released by the Seahawks last August as rookie Michael Dickson was destined to win the punting job. He landed with the Buffalo Bills briefly during the preseason but was released during roster cuts and didn’t land an NFL job last year.Ryan went to the University of Regina and played wide receiver and punter at the school where he had a 109-yard touchdown reception. He played two seasons for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before making the move to the NFL with the Green Bay Packers in 2006. After two seasons with the Packers, he was released at the end of training camp and signed with Seattle after the first week of the regular season. He spent a decade punting for the Seahawks before his release last year.

After 16 game recaps and three “playoff” rounds we have our away game champion and our home game champion. The narrative of the season according to you the fans will be one of optimism. But which one will be left standing? Let’s take a look at the two remaining plays. Away Game ChampionJosh Allen jumping over thingsThe Buffalo Bills were steamrolling the Vikings and Minnesota needed a stop. Through most of the first quarter, the Bills were up by 17 after turnovers and an offense that took advantage. Ready to make a stop, the Vikings could have started to rally back. Josh Allen took over and Buffalo never looked back. This play won the away games championship with one of the closer margins of late, a scant 10% advantage over the incomplete to Charles Clay. The will to win from Allen might be the yarn of the year. Vs. Home Game ChampionJosh Allen to Robert Foster 75-yard touchdownAnd for the Home Games, the Josh Allen 75-yard touchdown throw to Robert Foster started as the sixth seed but cruised to easy victories in every round. Tripling the vote count of a reception from the beloved Kyle Williams, this play could be unstoppable. A narrow victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars hinged on just a few key plays. Fans seem drawn to the poise and accuracy of this miraculous throw. A subtext of revenge over Jalen Ramsey and the Jacksonville Jaguars adds another layer that could be the difference in this Championship contest. Marlin Briscoe didn’t want to be pigeonholed simply because of stereotypes against black men. He was a star quarterback in college, and he believed he had the talent, intelligence and leadership skills to be one in the pros.Fifty years ago, during an era of massive social upheaval in the United States, just getting a chance to prove it took a risky ultimatum.Briscoe refused to switch positions after being drafted as a cornerback by the Denver Broncos Cody Ford Jersey Draft , telling his team that he’d return home to become a teacher if he couldn’t get a tryout at quarterback. Denver agreed to an audition, and that season the 5-foot-10 dynamo nicknamed “The Magician” became the first black quarterback to start a game in the American Football League.“It’s just so many different historic things that happened in the year 1968, it was unfathomable,” Briscoe, now 73, told The Associated Press. “It just seemed poetic justice, so to speak, that the color barrier be broken that year at that position. For some reason, I was ordained to be the litmus test for that. I think I did a good job.”Briscoe’s groundbreaking accomplishments were somewhat lost in the shuffle during one of the most transformative years in U.S. history. Civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated in 1968. Civil rights riots broke out across the country and there were numerous protests of the Vietnam War. And less than two weeks after Briscoe’s first start Cody Ford NFL Jersey , U.S. track and field stars Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised black-gloved fists on the medal stand at the Olympics to protest America’s social injustices. But Briscoe’s legacy resonates among his contemporaries 50 years later, hitting on race as well as the pressures athletes face in pro sports. The Pro Football Hall of Fame calls Briscoe the first African-American starting quarterback in modern pro football history. Carolina’s Cam Newton and Seattle’s Russell Wilson have both considered Briscoe’s past as they contend for championships. Doug Williams, the first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl, counts Briscoe as one of his most important inspirational figures.“I know the little bit that I had to go through, so I can imagine what he had to go through,” said Williams, who won the 1988 Super Bowl with Washington. “People were a little more accepted when I came through than when he came through.”GETTING ON THE FIELDThough Briscoe starred at Omaha University and eventually landed in the College Football Hall of Fame, he was drafted By Denver as a cornerback in the 14th round. Briscoe started last among eight quarterbacks during his tryout.Helped by injuries and erratic play, Briscoe eventually stepped in for the Broncos as a reserve on Sept. 29, 1968, and nearly led a comeback against the Boston Patriots. He earned the next start against the Cincinnati Bengals Color Rush Cody Ford Jersey , making him the first black quarterback to start a game in the AFL.Briscoe started five games that season and was runner-up for AFL rookie of the year, attracting strong crowds and energizing a franchise that had yet to establish a winning tradition.Despite his breakout season — he passed for 1,589 yards and 14 touchdowns and ran for 308 yards and three scores — Denver didn’t give him a chance to compete for the quarterback job in 1969. He said he was never given a reason why, so he asked to be released. He headed briefly to British Columbia, but decided Canadian football wasn’t for him. He returned to the United States and was picked up for the 1969 season by Buffalo, where he played receiver. He was a Pro Bowl receiver with the Bills in 1970 and won two Super Bowls as a receiver with the Miami Dolphins, but he never played quarterback again.“The more I’ve known him and been around him and talked to him, you’ve got to give him respect for what he did during that time and what happened to him after that time,” Williams said. “That’s the part that gets me. But that’s the time he was in.”PAYING IT FORWARDAs a senior at Grambling, James Harris kept up with Briscoe’s 1968 season by going to the library to look up his statistics. As fate would have it, Buffalo drafted Harris as a quarterback in 1969 Youth Cody Ford Jersey , putting him on the same team as Briscoe. It was Harris who became the AFL’s first black quarterback to open the season as a starter, and he said his roommate Briscoe was a critical mentor.“We used to talk a lot about the dos and don’ts and things that he had been through. He was telling me the things I needed to be prepared for,” Harris said. “I felt that Marlin was the only person on the team that understood what I was going through.”That included death threats, Briscoe said. “We had the race card on our careers because we were the first,” he said.Harris blossomed at QB. In 1974, he played for the Los Angeles Rams and became the first black quarterback to win an NFL playoff game. He also was Pro Bowl MVP that year.Briscoe said more work needs to be done both in the league and society. He has noticed that Colin Kaepernick has not been given a contract since his decision to kneel during “The Star Spangled Banner” to protest racial and social inequality. He believes President Donald Trump, an outspoken critic of Kaepernick, also bears some responsibility for some fans making racial comments toward black players, like a Texas superintendent who resigned last week after criticizing Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson by saying black QBs can’t be trusted. After all these years, Briscoe still sees shades of his old struggles.“I grew up in the ’50s and the ’60s, when all that stuff was rampant Womens Cody Ford Jersey , but you knew where you stood,” Briscoe said. “Today, you thought that all those attitudes were non-existent or filtered away to some degree, but with the Trump-isms, his philosophy has brought out of the woodwork that old-time thought process. That’s scary. It really is. It’s a scary situation.”

explanation of why the owners want an 18-game schedule and the players do not: It affects the owners’ bottom line Mark Bavaro Jersey , and it affects the players’ bodies.Bethea said that the people who will suffer increased injury risk if the players are required to play two more games a year are the ones who oppose it, while the people who will see increased revenues are the ones who support it.“The people that’s talking about 18 games obviously aren’t the people who are on the field,” Bethea said, via the . “It’s not affecting them. It’s not affecting their bodies. All it is affecting is their pockets in a positive way. So I don’t think they’re really thinking about the reaction it will have on the players. I think the setup we have now has been working. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. I think where we’re at right now is cool, 16 games. We still have postseason. I think what we got going on now is good.”With the players adamant that the season should not be expanded, what we don’t yet know is whether either side is going to be willing to concede on another issue to get its preferred season length. The length of the season is one of the many issues that needs to be resolved before the next Collective Bargaining Agreement can be agreed upon. The Philadelphia Eagles are finally starting to play like a defending Super Bowl champion. It took six games, but they sent a clear message to the rest of the NFL that they are going to make another run, if their game against the New York Giants on Thursday night was a sign of things to come. The Eagles (3-3) played fast http://www.giantslockerroom.com/authentic-eli-manning-jersey , Carson Wentz spread the ball around and the defense — particularly the front four — made life miserable for Eli Manning and the Giants in a 34-13 win that enabled Philadelphia to avoid its first three-game losing streak since 2016."All season long we have been close, we just were not sustaining it," said tight end Zach Ertz, who caught one of Wentz's season-high three touchdown passes. "Hopefully this win sparks us for the rest of the year. Obviously, we are going to look at film and learn how we could be better even, but this is something that we hope we can build some momentum on."The 34 points were a season high for the Eagles, who beat the Giants for the fourth straight time."It's a big win for us," said Wentz, who threw for 278 yards and hit Alshon Jeffery on his other two TD tosses. "NFC East and the conference. It's huge. Being 3-3 is better than 2-4. This is more like who we are. We can build from this."The win put the Eagles into a first place tie with Washington (2-2) in the NFC East with Dallas (2-3) a half game back. The Giants (1-5) are fading fast."Obviously not where we want to be Kevin Zeitler Jersey ," said Manning, who was sacked four times and hit 13 other times. "I'm not happy about it. I am frustrated like everyone. Obviously, all you can do is worry about the next game."The pressure was the key for the Eagles. It allowed defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to sit back with his linebackers and secondary and kept receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard from making big plays for New York. They were invisible most of the game."We want to get after the passer every week," Eagles coach Doug Pederson said. "These games are battles. It all comes down to which team gets after the passer. We hit Eli and put him on the ground. That was big."So was winning.Five things were learned from the game:SAQUON BARKLEY: The Giants rookie halfback is carrying the team. The second pick in the draft ran for 130 yards on 13 carries, scoring on a 50-yard run. He caught nine passes for 99, including a tackle-breaking 55-yarder that set up a field goal. That's 229 yards from scrimmage. He has gained at least 100 in all six games, one off the NFL rookie record set by Kansas City's Kareem Hunt last year."Saquon is a beast," said Eagles halfback Corey Clement, who scored on a 1-yard run. "It's hard not to say it. if I was saying anything otherwise Womens Saquon Barkley Jersey , I'd be a hater."QUICK START HELPS: The Eagles got big contributions early. An interception by Kamu Grugier-Hill on the opening series set up Wentz's first touchdown to Jeffery. A 23-yard punt return by DeAndre Carter paved the way for Clement's score. Coming into the game, Philadelphia had scored seven points in the first quarter. They got 14 against New York.MORE ODELL CONTROVERSY: Beckham was frustrated. At one point, he head butted a cooling fan on the Giants' sideline. He also left the field one play before halftime with New York lining up for a Hail Mary. Coach Pat Shurmur said he was going to get an IV."I was just trying to get myself fired up," Beckham said.INJURIES: The Eagles' biggest concern has to be left tackle Jason Peters. He left the game with a biceps injury. Backup cornerback Sidney Jones left in the first half with a hamstring injury. The Giants had LB Ray Ray Amstrong (concussion), WR Cody Latimer (hamstring) and CB Antonio Hamilton (illness) leave the game.THE DIFFERENCE: Wentz had an idea what changed for the Eagles"I think more than anything we just stayed ahead of the chains," he said. "I think we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot. And really offensively and defensively we just fed off each other. I think that's something we do so well when we get that rolling and so tonight it was good to get it going."

FOXBOROUGH Womens Irving Fryar Jersey , Mass. (AP) — Jason McCourty has taken longer than usual to do things around the Patriots practice facility this week as he’s prepared for their divisional playoff matchup with the Chargers. He’s been one of the first to arrive at breakfast with his teammates. He’s lingered in meetings and often been one of the last players to make it off the field following workouts. Whatever the task, he has savored it.That’s because McCourty’s about to do something he’s never done during his NFL career: play meaningful football in January. In his nine previous seasons — eight in Tennessee and one in Cleveland — McCourty was never on a playoff team. Drafted by the Titans in 2009, the defensive back only got close to the postseason twice as a member of 9-7 Tennessee teams in 2011 and 2016.He signed with the Browns in 2017, only to suffer through a winless season before being dealt to the Patriots. This season has brought a list of firsts: his first division title, his first week of playoff practices and on Sunday, his first postseason game.“I’m enjoying every moment,” McCourty said. “Typically, I’ve already flown home or doing whatever I’m doing for the offseason. I’m definitely trying to savor each and every moment.”The move to New England has been a career refresher in other ways. First, it reunited him with his twin brother Color Rush Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , safety Devin McCourty, whom he hadn’t played with since they starred at Rutgers. It’s also given Jason his first realistic chance to appear in a Super Bowl, something he and Devin dreamed about during their Pop Warner days.Devin, who won rings with the Patriots after the 2014 and 2016 seasons, has been Jason’s biggest mentor and fan.The twins are separated by only a single stall in the locker room and are typically only a few feet apart at the facility. They do a weekly segment with a Boston TV station and are active members of the NFL Players Coalition. They also share a Twitter account and have a YouTube show called “Double Trouble,” which they use to promote social justice causes and their sickle cell awareness initiative.Devin was a rookie on New England’s 2010 team that went 14-2 but lost to the Jets in the divisional round. He said he wants to ensure his brother’s first playoff experience doesn’t end the same way.“There’s no more, ‘My bad,’ or ‘I’ll get that next time,'” Devin said. “Ten years in the NFL Youth Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , not tasting the playoffs, I think he probably realizes that more than any of us. He knows it’s not guaranteed and it doesn’t happen all the time.”Jason says in some ways the past few weeks have made him feel like a rookie again.“I joked with a lot of guys after every win, I was probably the loudest guy in here yelling and celebrating just because of what it means,” he said.Jason arrived in New England in March as part of a collection of defensive backs the Patriots signed to help fortify the secondary following the departure of cornerback Malcolm Butler, who signed with Tennessee.Jason wound up starting 12 games at left cornerback after Eric Rowe went on injured reserve in October with a groin injury. He also contributed on special teams.Jason’s lone interception of the season came late in the Patriots’ 24-12 win over Buffalo last month, which secured New England’s 10th straight AFC East title.“I think his leadership, his communication, his professionalism has been outstanding,” coach Bill Belichick said. “Been great to work with. Couldn’t ask for any more.”As proud as Devin is of his brother Womens Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , he said their mother, Phyllis Harrell, might be more excited than both of them. She used to wear a custom half-Patriots, half-Titans jersey on game days. She updated it to a half-blue, half-white Patriots jersey this season honoring her sons.“I’ve won Super Bowls and all, but I think the thing she’s most wanted in our (NFL career) is Jason playing in the playoffs,” Devin said. “I’m sure she’ll be fired up to see him play in his first playoff game. She said that over and over, she just wanted him to get some type of success that I’ve had as far as the playoffs, the post-regular season Authentic Hjalte Froholdt Jersey , as far as the atmosphere. The McCourty gang will be pretty fired up Sunday.” The recent Hall of Fame inductee revealed that he strongly considered coming to coach for the Patriots." Never mind that he is arguably the best safety in NFL history. Think about the fact that almost all of his hardcore fans absolutely hate the Patriots. With Reed on the staff, what would they do? Would they be able to hate the Patriots as much as they do knowing that one of their favorite all time players was a part of the franchise? Add on the fact that the defensive backs would be learning for one of the best DB’s in history, and it would be one of the best and most exciting hires in Belichick’s history. One that would send waves through the NFL community. Remember Hjalte Froholdt Jersey Boys , Reed mentioned Belichick in his Hall of Fame induction speech. A member of one of the fiercest rivals when they were playing has immense respect for Belichick, and Tom Brady, whom he trades Instagram DMs with as well. Do I wish it would happen? You better believe it! Do I think it ever will? Probably not. It doesn’t seem that anyone is going anywhere on the defensive side of the coaching staff, so not sure where Reed would fit in. Even as an assistant, it would be amazing to simply have him around the players, and have them learn from him. So here’s hoping it happens in one way or another in the next year or two. Obviously so the Patriots can gain a potentially great coach, but it would also be nice to stick it in the face of Ravens fans too. His firing was overdue. He had four years to try his hand at being the Jets’ general manager, and his record was objectively poor in almost every category. He didn’t show the big picture vision necessary to build a Super Bowl contender. And there is something poetic about him being pushed out because he lost a power struggle. Just months ago he orchestrated a media campaign designed to make sure Todd Bowles and not he paid the price for the team’s disappointing season. He needed to be relieved of his duties. I am convinced of that. But as they do so frequently, the Jets have somehow managed to bungle things even when they are making an obvious move.Much of the discussion from today’s change will revolve around the timing. I have already seen many comments beginning with, “The timing isn’t ideal, but.” There is no but.The reasons Mike Maccagnan should have been fired in January are only tangentially related to Mike Maccagnan. The end goal was not to simply fire the general manager who was in place. Firing Mike Maccagnan was a means to an end, not an end itself. The end is building a team of competent professionals who work well together and are capable of executing a shared vision. That was the reason for firing Maccagnan in January. This was a chance for a reset. The people in place were not capable of competently executing a vision. It was time to change.Instead the Jets decided to take a half measure. Maccagnan stayed. Todd Bowles went. The day after Bowles’ firing was announced, team CEO Chris Johnson indicated he would not consider any coach who wanted to take Maccagnan’s power and influence.Maccagnan’s influence meant the Jets could cross any coach with a distinguished resume off their list from the outset. Coaches with good resumes have options, and they can extract more power.Maccagnan’s influence went beyond merely keeping his job, though. Multiple potential matches for the head coaching job reportedly fell apart because the general manager insisted in having a say over the assistants who would be hired. That’s very heavy handed stuff which further whittles down the candidates willing to work for your team.In the end the Jets had to settle for Adam Gase, a coach who had just been fired after a sub-.500 run with a division rival. He was not the team’s first choice, but he was the top choice who would agree to the conditions set out. This was a match that led to questions beyond Gase’s spotty record as a head coach. Gase also had a reputation for being difficult to work with. There was always a chance this thing would combust. How quickly it happened was shocking White Brent Qvale Jerseys , however.Maccagnan gave out over $120 million guaranteed in free agency. Then he selected Quinnen Williams with the third overall pick in the NFL Draft. The day after the Jets picked Williams, word started to leak that there was a major conflict within the organization. That brought us to today.I don’t dispute that Maccagnan failed to do his job effectively, but I must reiterate that viewing this only in the lens of whether Mike Maccagnan is employed by the Jets is missing the forest from the trees. There were two very different paths the team could have taken. The first path would have been to fire Maccagnan at the same time as Bowles. That would have allowed for an organizational reset. The Jets could have explored all of the potential options available. With Sam Darnold and a lot of cap space, it could have been a very attractive opening. Big name general manager candidates might have been interested. Big fish coaches with the sway to demand some control might have been interested. Promising up and comers might have been interested. The Jets could have been open to all options and structures and picked the one that worked best for them. Here’s the path the Jets chose. They kept the general manager. His insistence on control chased off coaching candidates, leading the team to make a second rate hire. The general manager was then allowed to spend record amounts in free agency and make the third overall selection in the Draft. Only after he is allowed to do these things, he is thrown out so that the second rate coaching hire can consolidate complete control. Oh, by the way, said second rate coaching hire failed at his previous stop when he was given that type of control.Seriously, think this entire sequence of events through. How does this make any sense? What logical long-term plan is being executed.Let me offer this reminder. The insistence on not giving a coach total control was the primary reason the Jets didn’t end up with somebody better than Gase. Now that they’ve ended up with this type of hire, they’ve changed their mind and given him total control.Let’s not even get into what a ridiculous liar Adam Gase is.(He said that on Friday.)If a real life business ever ran this way the shutters would have gone up long ago, and you might laugh at the imbecile who made those decisions.Unfortunately, Chris Johnson actually is running the Jets this way.Could the Jets end up hiring a quality GM who works well with Gase and has a successful run? Hey Brent Qvale Jerseys 2019 , anything is possible. But would you count on Chris Johnson making the decisions to put together a competent management team?Read that again. This CEO is so incompetent that he assembled a senior management team that couldn’t even coexist until its first training camp together. Now you’re telling me you have confidence in him to make the right moves? The teams that operate in such a backwards way are Washington under Dan Snyder and Cleveland under Jimmy Haslam (before the Browns wised up, stopped operating like that, and hired John Dorsey). There’s a reason these teams have been chronic losers. A lack of long-term thinking along these lines usually means a lack of long-term success. So I won’t join in the, “Better late than never,” talk about firing the general manager.Being on time was really important. Being on time would have allowed the Jets to build something for the future.Being late means that the Jets addressed one problem, but they replaced it with other problems. You can read the second here. You can read the third here. The Eagles are not Douglas’ only former employer, however. He spent his first fifteen years in the NFL working for the Baltimore Ravens White Robby Anderson Jerseys , one of the league’s most successful franchises of the last two decades. Today we will look at something Douglas might want to take from his first stop in the league. One cannot overemphasize the importance of developing homegrown talent in the NFL. In today’s league it is impossible to build a winner without doing so.The NFL is built to prevent the good teams from keeping all of their players. The top teams can afford to keep a core of stars together. Because of the salary cap, valuable role players become too expensive to retain. It isn’t a bad sign that other teams want your players. But they do need to be replaced once they depart. What better way to replace those players than with a cheap young player you have recently drafted and trained for your system? Front offices aren’t entirely different. Those that function best are efficient teams with multiple people filling valuable roles. Eventually if your front office gains respect in the league, other teams will start poaching your talent for higher level jobs. Scouts will become directors of scouting and personnel. Higher level executives might land general manager jobs. Again this is not a terrible thing. When another team wants your people, it is a sign those people are good. When it happens, though, quality replacements must be found.Perhaps no team has done a better job developing front office talent over the last two decades than the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have developed an innovative program to train young scouts.Bill Barnwell offered a detailed explanation of the 20-20 club for the great Grantland site back in 2013.I put the end of that passage in bold for a reason. The scouting services provide preliminary reports on prospects to subscribing teams. Teams get the same information. It can be a time-saver, but there is a clear problem. Teams run different systems. What the Jets value in a cornerback might be different from what the Bears value in a cornerback. Yet subscribing teams get the same information.By doing all of their work internally, the Ravens evaluate players based on what they value from the outset. The mode of operation is a microcosm of the 20-20 club’s ultimate purpose. Let’s say a scouting director leaves for a better job with another team. Wouldn’t the ideal candidate to replace him be somebody who has been immersed in your team’s culture for his entire scouting career and internalized the traits your team values? The Ravens have consistently replenished their front office from within with positive results.Douglas himself is an alum of the 20-20 club. While he does not need to create a program that is a carbon copy, developing a plan to nurture a pipeline of young front office talent should be at the top of his to do list.

Name one facet of the Buffalo Bills offense and coach Sean McDermott will point to something in need of drastic improvement. From passing to protection Discount Dru Samia Jersey , receiving to rushing, McDermott on Monday provided a blunt assessment of how anemic the Bills were a day following a 22-0 loss at Green Bay."Where do you want to start?" he said. "Offensively, wasn't good enough at all. Bottom line."A week after rookie quarterback Josh Allen, literally and physically, took a leap forward in his development by hurdling Minnesota linebacker Anthony Barr in a 27-6 win at Minnesota, he and the Bills offense took two 鈥?maybe three 鈥?steps back.Allen completed just five of his first 19 attempts and finished 16 of 33 for 151 yards passing, while being sacked seven times and committing three turnovers (two interceptions and a lost fumble).LeSean McCoy mustered just 24 yards rushing on five carries in a game the Bills managed a season-low 56 plays from scrimmage and had seven three-and-outs. Buffalo was shut out for the first time in 10 years and finished with just 145 yards Super Bowl Dru Samia Jersey , matching its worst total since a 40-7 loss at Chicago on Oct. 8, 2006.And Allen is getting hit so often, McDermott expressed concern over whether the first-round draft pick can stay healthy for the remainder of the season to continue his development."In order for the young man to play, he needs to be healthy, and in order for him to be healthy, you can't stand back there and take hits," McDermott said. Not all the league-worst 21 sacks Buffalo has surrendered can be blamed on what's been a patchwork offensive line. Allen has been faulted for being indecisive and holding on to the ball too long. The trouble is Dru Samia Jersey nfl draft , the Bills (1-3) have little time to address the numerous issues plaguing their offense in preparing to host the Tennessee Titans (3-1) on Sunday."Didn't do well in any area and that's my responsibility," offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said. "We'll work hard to get it fixed, but at the end of the day just not good enough."It doesn't help that Daboll is in his first year on the job, and overseeing a unit led by a rookie quarterback and a group of unproven receivers behind starter Kelvin Benjamin ."There are no excuses," he said. "We all have a job to do, and we got to make sure we do it well."One issue is Benjamin, the 2014 first-round draft pick whom the Bills acquired in a midseason trade with Carolina a year ago.Benjamin has just seven catches for 92 yards despite being targeted 21 times. His production mirrors that of the rest of Buffalo's receivers Ben Gedeon Jersey , who have combined for 26 catches for 330 yards and one touchdown through four games."I've got a concern with those types of numbers," McDermott said, when informed his receivers are averaging 82.5 yards a game.As for Buffalo's feeble running attack, he was critical with how the Bills were pushed around to open the game at Green Bay.After McCoy caught a 7-yard pass on the first play, the Bills were unable to convert a first down. McCoy ran for 2 yards on the next play, and then Chris Ivory was stopped for no gain.McDermott has issues, too Cameron Smith Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , on defense after Buffalo allowed the Packers to convert 11 of 20 third-down situations.Take away a six-quarter stretch spanning the second half of Buffalo's 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 16 through the end of the Minnesota game, the Bills have been outscored by a combined 103-9, including a season-opening 47-3 loss at Baltimore."My patience hasn't worn thin," McDermott said. Womens Quinten Rollins Jersey , and the Denver Broncos are winless.A solid if not spectacular showing from Aaron Rodgers led the Packers to a 27-16 win over the Broncos, improving Green Bay to 3-0 and dropping Denver to 0-3. Rodgers capitalized on a free play when the Broncos jumped offside in the first quarter and heaved the ball deep for a 40-yard touchdown to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and the Packers never trailed after that.Although Rodgers didn’t have many big plays other than that one, he also avoided mistakes and kept Green Bay’s offense on the field. There are still some kinks to be worked out in new head coach Matt LaFleur’s offense, but the Packers have to be pleased with where they are.The Broncos can’t be pleased. Joe Flacco struggled all day to deal with the Packers’ pass rush http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-kyle-murphy-jersey , and with Flacco struggling the Broncos tried to make their running backs the focal point of their offense. That had mixed results, with Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman making some solid plays in short yardage but not breaking any long runs.At 3-0, the Packers are the class of the NFC North and have to be considered the favorites in the division, with the obvious caveat that there’s still a long way to go. The Broncos, at 0-3 Corey Linsley Jersey White , appear set to miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year. In recent years, Michael Jordan has become the subject of a debate regarding the greatest basketball player of all time. So it’s fitting that Jordan produced a preview of football’s on-field contest between two quarterbacks who can make the case for being the NFL’s GOAT: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers or Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The segment debuted Sunday night, and it provoked a response from Lebron James.“IM READY!!!!” James tweeted. “Oh my bad I thought, maybe u were, umm never mind back to my regular schedule program.”Um Womens Justin McCray Jersey , does Lebron think that basketball’s GOAT debate would be resolved by having James and Jordan play a game of one-on-one now, with Jordan at 56? And for me — I had a nice bounce-back performance after a couple of sub .500 weeks, going 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the “High Five” picks against the spread. What we saw: the 49ers — and their made-for-Hollywood defensive coordinator — have officially proven that they are the real deal, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs landed back on Earth (or at least the moon), and — most importantly — the battle of the winless did not fail to disappoint. Oh, and the Cowboys lost to the Jets. Which we called. Just saying.Let’s jump to the big takeaways from this week!Article continues below ...Saints 13, Jaguars 6Often, basics in life can apply to sports gambling. For instance – don’t jump into a moving freight train. Easy enough, right? Well, all the ‘smart’ money, all the ‘big’ money was on the Jaguars because the spot was perfect. The Saints coming off three big emotional games – two at home – traveled to Jacksonville for a non-divisional game with the Jaguars. Easy spot for a letdown. The Saints, as expected, were ordinary offensively (just 5.0 yards per play, only 326 yards of total offense, no TDs until the 4th quarter). But everyone underestimated the improving New Orleans defense Myles Garrett Color Rush Jersey , which suffocated rookie Gardner Minshew, who for the first time looked like a 6th round backup QB: 14-for-29, 163 yards, and a backbreaking interception to start the 2nd half. Two weeks ago, the Saints’ run defense held Ezekiel Elliott to 37 yards rushing; Sunday, they held Leonard Fournette to just 72 yards on 20 carries. Getting in front of the Saints right now is a risky proposition.Browns 28, Seahawks 32This set up perfectly for the Browns: a 10 am “body clock” start for Seattle; the Seahawks off a lucky win over the Rams when Greg the Leg narrowly missed a field goal; the Browns recoiling after an embarrassing MNF loss to ensure that the public would be all over Seattle. And Cleveland took a 20-6 lead in the second quarter! It doesn’t seem possible, but after that big lead, here are the Browns’ 2nd quarter possessions: punt blocked, interception in Seattle territory, interception in Seattle’s end zone. The Browns, as they’ve done all season, were victims of self-inflicted wounds. To start the 2nd half, Nick Chubb fumbled and Seattle took its first lead. You can’t beat Russell Wilson when you turn the ball over 4 times https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Rashard-Higgins-Jersey , as Cleveland did.The worst part is, the Browns now have the bye week to think about being 2-4 and how Baker Mayfield leads the NFL in interceptions (11). Then, they visit the Patriots.Panthers 37, Buccaneers 26If you take nothing else away from this piece, please remember one note on gambling advice: The team that leaves early for London has a big first half advantage. The time difference … the travel, it’s enormous, even if I can’t specifically quantify it for you.The Bucs left late, just like the Bears last week. And just like Chicago, the Bucs fell into a massive hole, trailing the Panthers 27-7 before some garbage time points made it look respectable. Jameis Winston was the turnover machine he’s been for years – five interceptions and a fumble. The emerging Panthers defense sacked Winston seven times. They have 24 sacks during this 4-game win streak. The lone positive takeaway from Tampa: The run defense once again stopped Christian McCaffrey (22 carries, 31 yards). But until you’re confident Winston can take care of the ball, how can you bet on him?Texans 31, Chiefs 24Confession: I was a great speller in elementary school. One of the tips my mom gave me was to “always follow your first instinct.” It’s easy to adhere to as a child, but much tougher to do as a gambler because the numbers matter so much Joe Thomas Jersey , and it can feel safer to ‘follow the big money’ or ‘fade the public.’ I loved the Texans early in the week, but became fearful late in the week of buying the Chiefs low and Texans high, as well as the Andy Reid vs Bill O’Brien matchup.Despite an early 17-3 hole on the road, the Texans came roaring back with 20 straight points and beat a suddenly vulnerable Kansas City squad at Arrowhead. The biggest number isn’t an obvious one: 0. The number of times DeShaun Watson was sacked. That’s two weeks in a row that the QB who was sacked more than anyone else in the NFL in 2018 (65) hasn’t been sacked. And given time, the offensive strategy broadens beyond, “quick, throw it to Hopkins!” Five receivers caught three or more passes, and Carlos Hyde rushed for 116 yards as the Chiefs gave up 472 yards. The worst part for K.C.? The Colts held the ball for 37 minutes last week; the Texans held it for 39 this week. That’s 157 snaps in two weeks for a bad defense. Next up is a trip to rival Denver, which had Royce Freeman and Philip Lindsey combine for 136 yards and 2 TDs last year in a close Denver loss. Is it down to the final three teams for Gerald McCoy?" />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesDawgs EDTLast week, free agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy left Cleveland without a deal, but it was said that he wanted to take his time before signing a deal to make sure he feels confident that he will be playing for a contender. Since then, he has taken visits with the Baltimore Ravens and the Carolina Panthers.During his press conference at OTAs on Thursday, Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens was asked a lot of questions about McCoy. He believes the door is still open for McCoy to sign with Cleveland, and he is optimistic that the two sides can reach a deal. The fact that he’s met with two other teams since then doesn’t diminish his optimism:Kitchens also added that if playing for a competitor is one of McCoy’s goals Chris Hubbard Color Rush Jersey , then he’d be coming to the right place in Cleveland. For as much as Cleveland is confident, though, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh echoed the same type of hope, following reports that McCoy had an excellent two-day visit with the team:Free agency is something a player in the position that McCoy is in should take advantage of. Just think of it: he’s probably getting free flights, gourmet dinners, and getting to weigh his options of where he’ll feel most comfortable. The Browns are the talk of the NFL right now, but we did see once with Baltimore where they secured safety Tony Jefferson instead of Cleveland (but that was before Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham, and lots of other players came to town).

seconds or faster at the 2018 NFL Combine. The Green Bay Packers now have four of them on their roster https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Nick-Perry-Jersey , as astute Twitter user @buzzboy3 noted on Thursday.Green Bay drafted cornerback Jaire Alexander and his 4.38 speed with their first selection in the draft last April, then picked up wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (4.37) in round five. Following final cuts, general manager Brian Gutekunst also signed cornerback Tony Brown, he of the 4.35-second time, to the practice squad. Brown has since been promoted to the active roster to bolster an oft-injured cornerback unit. Then on Wednesday, the Packers made a handful of roster transactions, one of which was claiming defensive back Natrell Jamerson on waivers. The former Wisconsin Badgers DB is the fourth player to hit that time cutoff in the 40, running in 4.40 flat at the Combine. Originally a fifth-round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints, Jamerson failed to make it through final cuts Davante Adams Jersey , but was immediately scooped up by the Houston Texans. After suiting up for the team’s first ten games, Jamerson then sat out the past two weeks before his release on Tuesday. Jamerson joins Alexander, second-round pick Josh Jackson, and Brown as DBs who we listed on the Packers’ potential draft boards prior to April’s selection meeting. Interestingly, although Jamerson was listed as a safety at the Combine and on the Texans’ roster, the Packers have him as a cornerback on theirs.Jamerson’s size (5-foot-11, 201 pounds) and speed do make him a candidate to play corner as well as safety, and his lateral quickness helps as well. Although NFL Draft Scout published his 3-cone time as 7.07 seconds, Wisconsin’s officially-reported time was 6.87 Josh Jones Color Rush Jersey , right at the ideal cutoff time that we assumed this spring. His workouts earned him a value of 8.21 out of 10 on the RAS scale, putting him in the upper fifth of safeties in terms of overall athletic ability. He also has a knack for big plays with the football; he scored a touchdown in the East-West Shrine Game in January on a fumble return. Jamerson then appeared to score a fumble return touchdown in week eight against the Miami Dolphins, but a replay review showed that quarterback Brock Osweiler’s arm was going forward and the play was ruled an incomplete pass. That comes in addition to a pair of touchdowns in college, one on a kickoff return as a sophomore and one on a pick-six as a senior. As a cornerback, Jamerson appears well-suited to play a slot corner role for the Packers, having lined up there often in Madison during his three years as a defensive back. He also has the aforementioned kick-return ability, which could come in handy for a Packers squad that saw return specialist Trevor Davis go on injured reserve for the second time this year. Finally, Jamerson is talented on kick and punt coverage as well, serving as a gunner on those teams for years.Even if Jamerson does not see much playing time on defense in the final four weeks of the season https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/David-Bakhtiari-Jersey , he should get some run on special teams. He now has a month-long opportunity to show that he deserves to at least stay with the Packers through next year’s training camp. The Packers have announced plans to celebrate the life of Bart Starr during the 2019 season.Starr died last month and the team will have his widow Cherry and son Bart Jr. at their annual Green&Gold gala on September 13 to kick off a weekend of events. Starr’s family will host a public celebration of the Hall of Famer in New London, Wisconsin on September 14 and the team will honor Starr at halftime of their home opener against the Vikings on September 15.“We are thankful for the countless messages of support from friends, fans, and members of the communities Dad so loved in Wisconsin,” Starr, Jr. said in a statement. “We look forward to returning in September to celebrate the special relationship between my Dad and the individuals who inspired him throughout his life.”The team will also wear a helmet decal with Starr’s No. 15 during the 2019 season and they’ll make a $250,000 grant to the Bart and Cherry Starr Foundation.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Suddenly Christine Michael Sr Jersey , the Indianapolis Colts are creating a buzz around town. They ran the ball effectively Sunday against one of the league’s top defenses, stymied two of the league’s premier receivers in back-to-back weeks and ended Houston’s nine-game win streak and Dallas’ five-game win streak.Earning victories in their last two games could send the Colts back to the playoffs for the first time in four years and they could be a difficult matchup in the postseason, if they make it.“I can absolutely feel a significant difference in the last few weeks compared to the beginning of the year,” coach Frank Reich said when asked about the atmosphere around town.“Not that I get out very much because I don’t, but the little bit I do, the Starbucks in the morning or wherever it may be on a Friday night for dinner with my wife. You can feel the excitement by the fans and it’s exciting for all of us here in the building. It’s fun to see.”It’s been a long time coming for a team that seemed like an annual postseason lock for a 15-year span starting in 1999.When the Colts went 8-8 and missed the playoffs in 2015, fans largely considered it an aberration because Andrew Luck missed nine games with injuries.Luck returned in 2016, but when the Colts again finished 8-8 and missed out, the debate changed. Many wondered if the team needed a fresh start and team owner Jim Irsay responded by firing general manager Ryan Grigson. Then with Luck missing all of last season to recuperate from surgery on his throwing shoulder, the Colts staggered to a 4-12 mark, missed the playoffs for the third straight year and coach Chuck Pagano was fired. Many outsiders figured the Colts needed a major overhaul, a perception that was reinforced by Josh McDaniels’ decision to back out of a deal to become Indy’s new head coach shortly after New England’s Super Bowl loss, Luck’s lingering rehab and Indy’s 1-5 start this season. But general manager Chris Ballard and Reich, Indy’s second choice as coach, have put together a winning combination by staying the course. The balanced offense Grigson and Pagano craved for so long finally materialized after Indy (8-6) found two key solutions to its offensive line woes in the draft — left guard Quenton Nelson and right tackle Braden Smith. Luck benefited by turning in the best season of his career and the Colts have overcome injuries to win seven of their past eight.“A good leader will get guys to do what he wants them to do and believe in themselves whether you’re 1-5 or 7-1 through the last eight games,” offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni said Tuesday.“It’s obviously his leadership abilities and then Frank being an example of what we want players to be. What I mean by that, is that we want players to be the same guy every single day. … Frank definitely does that because he is the same guy every day.”The defense might be the biggest surprise. After years of languishing near the bottom of the league rankings, first-year coordinator Matt Eberflus has worked wonders.Originally hired by McDaniels and inherited by Reich, with a strong recommendation from Ballard, the Colts made Pro Bowl receivers Amari Cooper and DeAndre Hopkins look ordinary the past two weeks while holding NFL rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott to 87 yards rushing and pitching their first shutout in more than four years on Sunday. They’ve consistently put pressure on quarterbacks, forced turnovers and against the Cowboys delivered big play after big play with a simple philosophy — run to the ball.“Hustle is a learned skill,” Eberflus said. “It is the coach’s job to stay on it with the player to give him the feedback on every single play. That starts way back in OTAs (offseason team activities, all the way through minicamp and then through training camp every single play.”Now comes the hard part — finishing strong.A victory over the struggling Giants, coupled with a loss by either Pittsburgh or Baltimore this weekend, would give the Colts control of their destiny in the season finale at Tennessee (8-6), a team Luck has never lost to as a starter. It’s enough to get everybody outside the locker room talking about potential playoff matchups for the first time in four years.“We’re playing great football,” receiver T.Y. Hilton said after Indy’s most recent victory. “Right now Pat McAfee Color Rush Jersey , you’re either the train or you’re on the tracks. Right now, we’re rolling, so you better get on the train.”Notes: Indy put starting defensive tackle Al Woods (foot) and backup linebacker Skai Moore on injured reserve Tuesday. Safety J.J. Wilcox was signed to the active roster, taking the spot of Woods. Former Indiana University star linebacker Tegray Scales was added to the practice squad. NFL GeneralTraining CampColts AnalysisColts Training Camp: Day 14 News and NotesNew,15commentsEDTOn Monday, the Colts wrapped up their 14th and final practice before the Cleveland Browns come into town. It was a fairly light practice, as it only lasted an hour, and the team mostly focused on 11 on 11 and kick team. Here are my notes and observations from the day: <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="aXycOf">Injuries/MaintenanceThe Colts sat multiple players for Monday’s light practice. The list of players includes QB Andrew Luck, PK Adam Vinatieri, WR Penny Hart, WR T.Y Hilton, WR Parris Campbell, OT Le’Raven Clark, DE Justin Houston, DT Denico Autry, DE Jabaal Sheard, OG Quenton Nelson, CB Nate Hairston, and RB Jordan Wilkins.Tight end Ross Travis returned to practice after missing the last couple days. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="xrIIob">News/NotesRock Ya-Sin steals the showThe star of training camp continued his strong play on Monday with another great day of practice. In the 11 on 11 drill, he had a remarkable interception where he ripped the ball away from Devin Funchess and returned it for a score. He also did a great job of locking down Funchess for two incomplete passes in the 2 minute drill, and he was one of the main reasons the first team offense stalled out in their series. Overall, Ya-Sin didn’t just look like the best rookie out there, he looked like one of the best players on the field. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="NBcbgq">Other Rookies Standout Outside of Ya-Sin’s great day, the other rookies from the 2019 Draft class deserve their fair share of praise for their days in practice. Second round pick Ben Banogu was getting back into the action after missing some time and he put in some really good work today. He looked quick and strong in the bag drills and had a couple good rushes in 11 on 11 work. Once he gets back up to full strength https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Jack-Doyle-Jersey , I expect his impact to be even greater on this defense.Fourth round pick Khari Willis also continued his run of good practices. With Clayton Geathers back today, Willis mostly ran with the second team defense. He made a few nice plays in 11 on 11, including stuffing a run that he diagnosed at the snap near the goal line. I had the pleasure of watching practice with Coach Rick Venturi and he is completely sold on Willis being a starting caliber safety on this team for years to come. Fifth round pick Marvell Tell also made quite an impact today. He looked good in man coverage with the bigger receivers on the third team and made a few plays in pass coverage. He also came off a blitz early in 11 on 11 and came up with what would have been a sack in an actual game. He did get beat by Deon Cain for a deep pass down the sideline, but he had sticky coverage on the play, regardless. Overall good day, though, for the corner convert. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="R5jWRy">WR battle heating upThe most intriguing aspect of this year’s Colts team may be the depth at the wide receiver position. From a group that was barren with little talent, to now having a deep group, the Colts will have some tough cuts at the position. Chester Rogers and Zach Pascal both worked almost exclusively with the ones today. Rogers didn’t see many targets but he appears to be a starter on this team with Parris Campbell out of the lineup. Pascal had a pretty good day, in my opinion. He played a lot on the kick and kick coverage teams and got a few targets in the passing game. He nearly came down with a big catch down the sidelines in 11 on 11, but a big hit by Clayton Geathers broke up the play at the last second. His highlight of the day, however, was when he blocked Kenny Moore into the ground on a basic run up the gut play. Plays like that will make him hard to cut. He always does the dirty work and gives it all each and every day.Deon Cain stole the show late in practice. Him and quarterback Chad Kelly got into a groove in their two minute drill and they were able to drive the offense down the field for a touchdown. The highlight of the practice for him was a remarkable catch down the sideline with Marvell Tell blanketing him in coverage. Krishawn Hogan and Daurice Fountain also had good days catching the ball as Hogan had a nice touchdown catch over the middle against Quincy Wilson and Fountain had a couple targets as well. Both have had great camps so far as they fight to make the bottom of this roster.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="dOJ358">2017 Draft Class making the jumpWith the historic 2018 Draft class and the promise of the 2019 Draft class, people seem to be forgetting about all the quality players that Ballard found in his first draft with the team. Of that draft class, a few notable names stood out to me today as players who could break out as starters or even as stars this upcoming year. Grover Stewart looks like a new man on the field. He has obviously slimmed down a bit, and he looks much faster and stronger. He was one of the standouts on the bag drills and was getting some good pressure up the interior during the 11 on 11s. Watch out for Stewart this year as he looks to take a more prominent role in this defense. Speaking of players who could break out, let’s talk about Quincy Wilson. After a fairly rough rookie season and first half last year, he looks primed for a big year. He looks slimmer, quicker, and much faster on the field and he is playing with a ton of confidence. He was hard to beat in coverage today as he even locked up Eric Ebron on a deep pass from Jacoby Brissett early in practice. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="zlG4hW">Other StandoutsQB Chad KellyKelly continues to look like the best quarterback on the practice field. He is quick and decisive and he can make plays with his legs as well as his arm. He delivered a strike for a touchdown to Mo Alie-Cox in the two minute drill, and also ran for a score early on. He is having a pretty good recent stretch of football. George OdumEvery day feels like Odum is making plays in practice. He had a good day today, as he was lock down in coverage. He also grabbed an interception off of a deflection by Bobby Okereke early in the practice. As each day goes by in practice, Odum only solidifies himself more and more as the backup to Malik Hooker at FS.First Team DefenseThe first team defense was simply lock down today as the first team offense couldn’t get anything going. Even with missing the entire starting defensive line outside of Margus Hunt, the offense couldn’t muster up any positive traction. The secondary looks really good and confident whenever they get on the field together and the linebacker group led by Darius Leonard looks as strong as ever. It could be a very good year for the Colts’ defense.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="IB0Tpr">Final ThoughtsOverall it was a fairly light day of practice indoors before the big practices against the Browns later in the week. The team looked good, especially in the secondary. Seeing that group in person compared to last year has me believing they will take a big step in the right direction in year two under defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. Today was my first day at practice since I started covering the Colts a little over a year ago. The atmosphere of the practice and the fans were absolutely great. I would also like to shout out Rick Venturi. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to sit with him and talk about things such as defensive back techniques and Nick Saban. Overall, the Colts looked good out there and I expect some great practices against the Browns later in the week.

RENTON Will Dissly Color Rush Jersey , Wash. (AP) — The Seahawks could be without both starting safeties and two starters on their offensive line for Sunday night's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.Free safety Tedric Thompson was officially ruled out with chest and ankle injuries, and strong safety Bradley McDougald is questionable to play because of patella tendinitis. Right guard D.J. Fluker and right tackle Germain Ifedi are questionable with hamstring and groin injuries, respectively.Coach Pete Carroll didn't specify the issue plaguing Thompson but said it would take at least another week to be properly addressed. "He's not in any discomfort from what he's got," Carroll said. "It's just something that they found and so we just got to take a look at it and give him some time for it to go away."He's got some swelling in (his chest) that's of question so we're just making sure that we're doing the right thing. There's just some fluid or something in an unusual place. … He just can't play with it so we have to wait until it goes away."McDougald was away from the team all week for treatment on his knee and had not yet returned by the time Carroll met with reporters after practice on Friday. Carroll said McDougald is optimistic he will be able to play."I can't believe Bradley is not playing in this game," Carroll said. "He has every intention of playing and he just had to miss the week for his treatments."Delano Hill, Shalom Luani and Maurice Alexander are the options Seattle can turn to if both Thompson and McDougald can't play.Meanwhile, Fluker did not practice for a third straight week with a hamstring injury that's forced him to miss the last two games. Backup Jordan Simmons went on injured reserve earlier this week after sustaining a knee injury against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.Fluker is expected to be a game-time decision."He's trying to hold out hope for game-day recovery, so we'll see how that goes," Carroll said.Ifedi injured his groin in practice on Thursday and is also expected to be a game-time decision. His injury is a twofold problem for Seattle as it would require George Fant to play right tackle and limit the team's ability to use six offensive linemen, which it has done frequently.Ethan Pocic would be the likely fill-in for Fluker at guard if he can't play.Cornerback Shaquill Griffin (hip) Michael Dickson Color Rush Jersey , long snapper Tyler Ott (illness) and defensive tackle Jarran Reed (oblique/groin) are all expected to play despite their questionable status. Running back Rashaad Penny will be a game-time decision.Linebacker K.J. Wright is returning to the lineup for the first time in five weeks. He's missed 11 games this season because of a knee injury sustained in the preseason. Wright said he's the healthiest he's felt all season, but said his snaps will be limited as he works back into action."I'm out there running around with no pain, just out there flying around having a good old time," Wright said. "It just feels good to play healthy. Your mind is focused on other things versus your knee." The Odell Beckham experiment in Cleveland hasn’t gone as well as expected. And he’s getting frustrated. That characterization didn’t come from Beckham on Wednesday but from quarterback Baker Mayfield, who addressed Beckham’s lack of offensive production with reporters on Wednesday.“He is frustrated when he is not getting the ball and we are losing,” Mayfield said. “Why not be? He feels like he could help us win if we get the ball in his hands. When we are winning, that is the thing about it is he is a team guy. He is helping us win in any way he can, and he understands how teams are going to play him. It is frustrating when he is not getting the ball and we are losing. You can’t blame him. He is one of the best receivers in the league, and when he is not getting the ball, he always has it in the back of his mind of Alex McGough Color Rush Jersey , ‘What if I did get the ball and changed this game?'”The football-watching world got a glimpse of that mindset on Monday, with a Benny Hill-style punt return from Beckham, who was trying to singlehandedly turn the game around at a time when the cause was lost. He backtracked and eventually fumbled.Beckham had only two catches against the Ravens in Week Four, which created no problems because Cleveland emerged with the victory. On Monday night, two receptions coupled with a loss has made Beckham’s lack of involvement an issue.Beckham isn’t the only one frustrated by his lack of involvement. Mayfield is frustrated by the extent to which opposing defenses are taking him out of games.“It is frustrating when teams take him out of the game,” Mayfield said, “but it is also an opportunity for other guys to make plays. We have to do our job of getting him the ball as many times as we can. He is a game changer. That is why he is here. He is one of the best in the league. We will do our part, and we expect him to do his as well.”That’s fine, but it’s still not working. Although the Browns are drawing up plays aimed at getting Beckham involved, it feels too forced and contrived Byron Maxwell Color Rush Jersey , not part of the natural flow of the game. And as defenses focus on taking him away, the Browns are getting even more frustrated.“I think it is about seeing how teams are going to play, and if there are one on ones, we have to be able to take advantage of it,” Mayfield said. “If not, he has to be patient and we do too of not forcing the ball to him and taking advantage of defenses and making them adapt before we can get the ball to him.”A passing game works best when the quarterback focuses only on throwing the ball to the open man. And if a defense insists on taking one specific player away, the offense needs to pivot to others who will enjoy mismatches. But Beckham still wants the ball, and his desire to get the ball creates stress and pressure for the coaches and for Mayfield, potentially forcing him to spend too much time hoping Beckham springs open before moving on to the next man in the progression, because Mayfield knows that Sebastian Janikowski Color Rush Jersey , if Beckham doesn’t get the ball, he’ll become frustrated. That’s the price of having a great receiver. He knows he’s a great receiver, and he wants to continuously prove his greatness. He won’t concede that maybe he’s not so great that he can beat double teams, that he’s not open when he thinks he is, that pursuing victory isn’t about how many passes he catches. So while it sounded great back in March to add Beckham to the Browns roster, the Browns are now working through the challenge that comes from having Beckham the Browns roster — and his frustration will serve only as an invitation for teams to continue to do whatever they have to do to shut him down, since they know that his frustration and the efforts to alleviate it will make it easier to shut the entire offense down, too.
